Class terms and cancellation
Anything in brackets is a decision not yet taken. The refund ladder is a common shape for class terms, not a recommendation — the deadlines have to be the ones that suit the workshop. Terms that bind a consumer should be read by a lawyer before they apply, the more so because the whole fee is taken at booking.
Booking and payment
The seat is yours once payment goes through. We take the full class fee by Vipps at booking — a booking is not complete until payment is confirmed, and no seat is held without it.
You will get a confirmation by e-mail with the date, times, place and what to bring.
What the price covers
The fee covers tuition, the use of tools and gouges at the bench, and the material for what you carve during the class.
Lodging and meals are extra and you arrange them yourself. We are glad to point you to rooms nearby.
If you have to cancel
Write to rolf@taraldset.org as soon as you know. What is refunded depends on when the e-mail arrives:
| Cancelling | Refund |
|---|---|
| More than [30] days before the class | [Full fee, less NOK 300 administration] |
| [14–30] days before | [Half the fee] |
| Less than [14] days before | [No refund] |
Whatever the deadline, you may pass your seat to someone else. Send us their name and contact details and we will handle the rest. It costs nothing, and is often the best outcome for everyone.
In case of illness [with a doctor’s note] we move your seat to a later class in the same [year] at no cost, if one has room.
If we have to cancel
A class runs with [at least 4] people booked. With fewer, we cancel no later than [14] days before the start and refund the fee in full.
Should we have to cancel for other reasons — the teacher falling ill, or circumstances outside our control — you choose between a seat on a later class and a full refund. We do not cover travel, lodging or anything else you booked around the class, so take out travel insurance if you are coming a long way.
Right of withdrawal
Classes run on set dates. Services tied to leisure activities on an agreed date are exempt from the ordinary 14-day right of withdrawal under the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act, section 22. The cancellation terms above apply instead.
[To be confirmed:] Whether a woodcarving class counts as a “leisure activity” in the meaning of the Act is an interpretation. With the whole fee taken up front, this is worth confirming before publication.
Practical
No previous experience is needed. If you own gouges, bring them.
The workshop is at Seljesetvegen 103, 6763 Hornindal, Norway.
Personal data
Your name, e-mail and phone number are stored to carry out the booking, and kept as long as Norwegian bookkeeping law requires. See the privacy notice.
